The Mother as a Map
83cm × 95cm
Tufted tapestry mounted on MDF board.
The Mother as a Map draws upon understanding of maps as ideological frameworks rather than way-finding objects.
This piece shows the maternal body as a map of the cosmos through the sacred geometric symbol of the vesica piscis rendered in deeply carved high-pile tufting. The vesica piscis is also called the “womb of the universe” and is one of the oldest recurring symbols in spiritual and artistic traditions. The sunlit yellow center (mandorla) echoes the full sun and the red circular lenses are reminiscent of the pomegranate in The Mother as a Landscape. Surrounding this form are the orchid petals textured with vein-like patterns, also symbols of desire and fertility.
Each Hyperworlds sequence is designed as a complete three-part set. Collectors who acquire both large works (landscape and map) will receive the smaller piece (relic) as part of the complete collection.

The Mother’s Relic
56cm × 76cm
Tufted tapestry mounted on MDF board.
The Mother’s Relic depicts an imagined object from the realm of the Mother within the Hyperworlds collection. A golden chalice — an ancient symbol associated with womanhood, fertility and the body as a sacred vessel capable of carrying and sustaining life.
Suspended above the chalice is an orchid, a flower long associated with beauty and reproductive vitality. Together the chalice and orchid transform the relic into a symbolic artefact of the maternal world.
Each Hyperworlds sequence is designed as a complete three-part set. Collectors who acquire both large works (landscape and map) will receive the smaller piece (relic) as part of the complete collection.
