The Matriarch as a Landscape

The Matriarch as a Landscape is the third stop on the journey through Hyperworlds. It expands beyond the “Maiden–Mother–Crone” triad to include the Matriarch - a distinct archetype of embodied power and wisdom. This is the “autumn” of a woman’s life — a stage where the sun begins to set on youth, but her radiance and power continue to grow.
At sunset, a huge sunflower grows from the land in full bloom. At its centre is a heart-like core, symbolising emotional depth and the capacity to sustain others through love and endurance. Although the sun is setting, the sunflower continues to bloom through the encroaching darkness — suggesting that the woman is her own source of light.
Each Hyperworlds sequence is designed as a complete three-part set. Collectors who acquire both large works (landscape and map) will receive the smaller piece (relic) as part of the complete collection.

The Matriarch as a Map

The Matriarch as a Map transforms the sunflower into a diagram of creation. It continues the exploration of feminine archetypes by positioning the Matriarch not just as a figure within a world, but as the system that generates the world itself.
The composition is based on the sacred geometric form known as the Seed of Life — a progression of the vesica piscis. This version is adapted from an 11th-century mosaic in St Mark’s Basilica. The Seed of Life has historically been described as a “sacred blueprint,” a structure believed to contain the underlying pattern of growth and creation.
Its repeating circular forms resemble the morula stage of embryonic development, when a single cell divides into a clustered structure. Read this way, the geometry becomes a simple visual model of how life develops and expands.
At the centre of the mandala is a bright red heart, representing a woman’s enduring love and care.
