Haute Creature Evening Bag No. 5

Born from my years in puppetry, these bags come from a world where animism and pareidolia rule — where everything has a spirit if you’re willing to look twice. I wanted to create an accessory that feels alive. Something that invites you to play and even become a puppeteer yourself!

Each bag is handcrafted entirely from scratch in my Melbourne studio using gold hardware, velvet, leather and holographic PVC to form a creature that’s part fashion, part puppet. No two will ever be made the same. Every piece is fully lined with a deep velvet interior that adds weight and richness and feels beautiful to the touch. This collection continues my practice of blending textiles, craftsmanship and puppetry to transform the handbag into a little friend with presence and personality.

I’ve been sewing, sculpting and making for decades and I’m obsessed with textures - so this collection is a sensory feast. The plush faux fur, the glossy googly-eye pupil, the weight of the gold hardware and the smooth glide of the zip are all designed to delight the senses.

Only one of each Haute Creature will ever exist. Once adopted, it’s gone forever.

Care Instructions

Each Haute Creature is an artwork first and a handbag second. Caring for it is part of the process.

  • Store it in its custom dust bag when not in use to protect it from light and dust.

  • Groom gently with the included comb to keep the faux fur soft and expressive.

  • Use the custom googly-eye handbag hook whenever you go out. The hook slips over the edge of a table to keep your creature safely off the ground

Treat it like the tiny companion it is and it will stay radiant for years.
